Martha Bradshaw Obituary

Martha Ann D. Bradshaw NEWSOMS - Martha Ann Darden Bradshaw, 67, died Oct. 6, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born in Isle of Wight County, one of 16 children of the late Elmer and Martha Gardner Darden. Mrs. Bradshaw was retired from Parker Drug Company and was a member of the Franklin Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary. She attended Newsoms Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 47 years, Charles E. "Frog" Bradshaw; a daughter, Trina B. Johnson (Ronald) of Courtland; two sons, Heath Bradshaw (Deborah) and Michael Bradshaw, all of Newsoms; five grandchildren, Heather and Hannah Bradshaw, Caleb Bradshaw, and Chase and Carter Johnson; four sisters, Nell Kauss, Lucille Blanchard, Lois Turner, Vicky Leake; three brothers, Cliff, Phillip "Popcorn," and James "Bro" Darden; and a special sister-in-law, May M. Winters. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Jason Wise and the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to Newsoms Baptist Church, P.O. Box 297, Newsoms, VA 23874, or American Cancer Society, c/o Kathy Worrell, 717 Fairview Drive, Franklin, VA 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.

Lucille and family. So sorry to hear of Martha Anne's death. May God be with you and place his arms around you in this most difficult time in your life. Nancy Stephens Rountree

So sorry to hear of Martha's passing. I have fond memories of her during our teen years and will never forget her "spunk" as she was very outspoken but a joy to be around. She raised three fine children of which I'm sure she was proud of as well as her love for her grandchildlren. My sympathies to the entire family.
