Joshua W. Snell CHESAPEAKE - Joshua W. Snell, 71, of the 2500 block of Meiggs Road, passed away with his loving family by his side on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010. He was a native of Gum Neck, N.C., and was the son of the late Ervin Snell and Meta Snell Mason. He retired from Pepsi Cola after 35 years of service. He was currently employed with Penske Trucking and was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church but attended Faith Baptist Church. He was a member of Portsmouth Masonic Lodge No. 100 where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He was predeceased by his wife, Connie Wall Snell. He is survived by his daughter, Connie B. Allison and Victor Fountain; a son, David "Hutch" Snell and wife Michelle of Chesapeake; a sister, Stella Hargrave and husband Gilbert; a loving and devoted brother, Frank Snell and his wife Evelyn; five grandsons who affectionately knew him as "Hi there," William Ramsey, Brandon Allison, Robbie, Aaron and Mathew Snell; a great-granddaughter, Natlie Ruth Ramsey; a special loving and devoted friend, Carolyn Butler; two cousins, Arnette Parker and husband Jacob and Tommy Cahoon and wife Lee; a stepfather, Robert Mason; and numerous loving and devoted nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Chesapeake Home Health Hospice for their caring support. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Ervin Hargrave.
