Margaret Williams Obituary

Margaret T. Williams SUFFOLK - Margaret Tobey Williams, wife of Richard M. Williams Sr., 89, departed this life Oct. 8, 2010. Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Manley W. Tobey Sr. and Marion Gardner Tobey. She was the wife of Richard M. Williams Sr. Mrs. Williams was predeceased by brothers, Dr. Thomas Tobey and James F. Tobey Sr. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of the Jefferson High School, Roanoke, Class of 1938. After a year of studying art in Roanoke, she then attended the Art League in New York City. She was a graduate of the Louise Obici School of Practical Nursing, Class of 1960, and served at Obici Hospital in various areas until her retirement in 1993. She had been an active member of Western Branch Baptist Church, was a charter member of the Kings Fork Woman's Club and served as its president on three different occasions for a total of six years. Besides her husband, Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Marion W. Lovelace and her husband Noel of Suffolk; sons, Richard M. Williams Jr. and his wife Sue of Suffolk, Millard "Mit" Williams and his wife Judy of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Roger T. Williams and his wife Candice of Suffolk; sister, Virginia T. Smith of Chesterfield, Va.; brother, Manley W. Tobey Jr. of Tappahannock, Va.; seven grandchildren, Richard Williams III and wife Stephanie, Ryan Williams and wife Mary, Kyle Williams and wife Sonya, Clay Williams, Marc Lovelace and wife Rachel, Laura W. Adam and husband Aaron, and Michael Williams; 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. in Western Branch Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Micah Voight. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Western Branch Family Life Center, 6952 Old Myrtle Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
