Marilyn Kirkland Obituary

Marilyn H. Kirkland BOYKINS - Marilyn Hines Kirkland, 83, passed away at home with her family by her side Oct. 7, 2010. She was born in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of Louis and Lillian Hines, both originally of Southampton County. As a child, Mrs. Kirkland spent happy summers in Boykins with her extended family, and later returned to make Boykins her home in 2003. She was a member of Boykins Baptist Church and its Ruth Class. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband and childhood sweetheart, Mutt Kirkland of Boykins; her daughter, Gretchen Moore and husband Jeff Moore, and her granddaughter, Lauren Moore, all of Cary, N.C. The graveside funeral will be conducted Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. in Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boykins Baptist Church, 32057 Main St., Boykins, VA 23827, or to the Hospice program of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Sentara Health Foundation, 6015 Poplar Hall Drive, Suite 308, Norfolk, VA 23502.
