Lindsey Bunch Obituary

Lindsey Ray Bunch EDENTON - Lindsey Ray Bunch, 80, of the 150 block of Smith Road, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at his home. Mr. Bunch was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Clarence and Dixie Harrell Bunch. A retired farmer, he then worked for Cardinal Chemicals for many years. In 1958 he received the Outstanding Young Farmer award for Chowan County and later was one of the founding members of the co-op that built a cotton gin in the county. A faithful member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, he had served as chairman of the Board of Deacons, taught the boy's Sunday school class, and served as the training union director. A charter member of Unit 3 of the Edenton-Chowan Rescue Squad, he was also a United States Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Thurrell Gray, Carlton, Edward, and Ralph Bunch. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Audrey Jackson Bunch; his daughter, Melissa Shear and husband Drew of Bailey; his son, Kenneth Ray Bunch of Edenton; his sister, Carolyn Rogerson and husband Earl of Winfall; his brother, Alvin Bunch and wife Jean of Edenton; sisters-in-law, Betty, Naomi, and Inez Bunch, all of Edenton and Barbara Bunch of Windsor, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Kyle Shear and wife Celeste, Danni Alston, Andrew Shear, Ryan Bunch and Wyatt Bunch. A funeral will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton and all other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund Rocky Hock Baptist Church, 113 Rocky Hock Church Road, Edenton, NC 27932. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
