Jean B. Mobley PORTSMOUTH - Jean B. Mobley, 81, died in a Cary, N.C., hospital Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. She was a native of Portsmouth, a lifelong member of Western Branch Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday school class. She retired from the staff of Court Street Academy. Jean was attending St. John's Baptist Church of Raleigh, N.C. Mrs. Mobley was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Mort Bailey and her husband, James E. Mobley Jr. She is survived by her two sons, the Rev. Brad Mobley and wife Ruthie of Hartsville, S.C., and the Rev. Jeff Mobley Sr. of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Katie Mobley of Laurel, Md., and Jeff Mobley Jr. of Raleigh; a brother, Tommy Bailey of Granite Falls, N.C. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with the Rev. George Mullinax officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
