Dorothy Shields Obituary

Dorothy M. Shields NORFOLK - Dorothy M. Shields of the 2700 block of Mapleton Ave., passed away Oct. 15, 2010. She was born to the late Ethel Robinson and Charles Jones in New Bern, N.C. She was a graduate of J.T. Barber High School. She retired from Sentara Norfolk General after many years of service. She leaves to cherish her memories, three children, Kelvin Shields, Felicia Shields and Sybil Shields; one sister, Charlease Bryant (Wilbert); one brother, Thomas Richardson (Linda); two grandchildren, Keyanti Williams and Kemaree Alcorn; one great-grandchild, Kynedi Alcorn; godson Cobi; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and lots of very special friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Second Calvary Baptist Church, 2940 Corprew Ave., Norfolk. Interment will be Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends during the week at 2745 Mapleton Ave. and from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Street Chapel.
