Nettie Benjamin Obituary

Nettie L. Benjamin PORTSMOUTH - Nettie L. Benjamin, 89, went to be with her Lord Oct. 18, 2010. Nettie was born in Troy, N.Y., the daughter of the late Nettie Mae and Harley E. Bump. She was also predeceased by her husband, Samuel Benjamin. Mrs. Benjamin was a member of Park View Christian Church and the Churchland Senior Group. Mrs. Benjamin is survived by her son, David N. Benjamin Sr. and his wife Catherine A.; two grandsons, David N. Benjamin Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Michael J. Benjamin and his wife Kellie; seven great-grandchildren: Kyle Riley, Ashlyn, Rachel, Brandon, Trevor and Matthew; and a special niece, Karen Julian. A funeral to celebrate Nettie's life will be held Friday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with Pastor Marty Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, Suffolk. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Nettie's name to the American Heart Fund, the American Cancer Society or to the Virginia Association of the Blind.
