Corine Hawkins Obituary

Corine M. Hawkins CHESAPEAKE - Corine M. Hawkins, 86, of the 2300 block of Lloyd Drive, died Oct. 19, 2010, at her home. A native of Norfolk County, she was the widow of John T. Hawkins Sr. and had retired after 20 years from Norfolk General Hospital. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Oakwood Chapel Church in Norfolk and the Flower Club. Survivors include daughters, Alice Menefee (Diamond) and Olivia Goffigan; sons, John Hawkins Jr. (Joyce) and Gregory Hawkins (June); brother, Sanford Ware Sr.; grandchildren, Felicia Goffigan, Michael Goffigan, Diamond Menefee Jr. (Tramaine) and Anejecia Artis; and great-grandchildren, Kenton Ried, Amare Menefee and Jabrill Artis. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today in Oakwood Chapel Church by Minister Carolyn Barrington. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. She will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. today. E. A. Hughes Funeral Home is in charge. You may sign the guest register at www.eahughes.biz.

she loved the the kids. every christmas she would give the kids something it wasn't much but it was out of kindness. she was the the first and only person to introduce herself when we moved to the neighborhood. she would scold us when ever she heard my husband or me scolding the kids about playing in her yard. she always told us to let them be. my little girl loved going over to her house just to talk her ears off, and she never seemed to mind. she hated our cat but loved the kids. she always had some kind of advice and kindness to give us. she will truly be missed.
