Junius Hawkins Obituary

Junius Hawkins VIRGINIA BEACH - Junius Hawkins, 84, known as "Pop Pop," of the 500 block of Southgate Ave., died Oct. 20, 2010. Born in Princess Anne County, he was a warehouse associate for Virginia Tractor/ Carter Machinery and retired after 33 years of service. He was a member of New Saint John A.M.E., the Male Chorus, and served as a trustee and on the Senior Usher Board. He was a past master of Masonic Lodge Unity No. 93. Survivors include his wife, Nancy P. Hawkins; daughters, Phycanthia H. Whitehurst; five sons, Maurice Hawkins, Ronnie Hawkins (Mable), William N. Price, Kim Hawkins (Robin), Dalento Owens; a sister- in-law, Queen Anne Toney (Sanford); two aunts, Margaret Coleman, Lorraine Wright; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and two children, Terry Hawkins and Joyce H. Nelson. A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 26, in New Saint John A.M.E. Church, 5501 Rock Creek Lane, Virginia Beach, by Dr. E. H. Terrell. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Viewing will be held Monday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Communuity Funeral Home, Norfolk.
