Lebern Belmer and Alice Carol Johnson in Muncie, Ind. She was predeceased by a son, William Scaggs; a granddaughter, Audrey; and a sister, Annabel Harrell. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother to her family, which was her "full time" career. Several of her granddaughters referred to her as their most trustworthy confidant and best friend. Barbara was a faithful wife to her career Navy husband and always opened her heart and home to military families, friends and neighbors everywhere. Barbara is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry Scaggs; her three sons and their wives, Sammy and Beverly Scaggs of Chesapeake, Joseph and Sharon Scaggs of Chesapeake, and Bruce and Marleaux Scaggs of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren, Rebekah, Sarah, Amanda, Seanne, Kelly Jo, Jake, Elizabeth, Bruce Jr. and Caitlin; as well as five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Joel, Travis, Logan and Amiah. Also left to cherish her loving memory are her four brothers, Elmer Johnson of Muncie, Ind., Jim Johnson of Muncie, Jerry Johnson of Horton, Ala., and Darrell Johnson of Woodstock, Ga.; along with two sisters, Nancy Venturo of Atlanta and Charlotte Stultz of Harper City, Ind. She will be missed by her family and friends but they are happy that she is now with the Lord and in His presence from this day forward. Her celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman's Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Sammy Scaggs, the Rev. Keith Miller and the Rev. Harold Buckwalter will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
