Susie Sophia Stones NORFOLK - Susie Sophia "Rapp" Stones of Norfolk died Nov. 4, 2010 at the age of 100 years, 4 months and 11 days. She was born June 23, 1910 in Sagrada, Mo., the daughter of Eugene Judson Rapp and Rosa Lea (Anderson) Rapp. In 1912, she moved with her parents and older sister Beulah to a farm west of Akron, Colo. She attended Freemont Butler country school through the eighth grade. On Aug. 8, 1931 she married Cornelius Alonzo "Neil" Stones and moved to the Stones homestead north of Lebanon, Kan., in the Mount Hope community. She was an active member in the ladies club and taught Sunday school in the Mount Hope Church started by the Rev. James Timothy Stones on the corner of the homestead in the late 1800s. After Neil's death in 1969, she moved to Red Cloud, Neb., where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. In 1986, she moved to Norfolk to be near her children. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery work and was a member of Zion Grace United Methodist Church in Norfolk for many years. Survivors include a son, Norman Verl Stones and his wife Susan (Hobbs) Stones of Virginia Beach and a daughter, Connie (Stones) Kaiser and husband Wyann Kaiser of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Angela (Stones) Brinser and husband David Brinser of Warner Robbins, Ga., Martin Scott Stones and his wife Linda (Behrens) Stones of Crete, Neb., Deborah (Kaiser) Jones and husband Paul Jones Jr. of Suffolk, and Heather (Kaiser) Phillips and husband Robert Phillips Jr. of Gloucester, Va.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brian, Christopher, Brennan, and Marli Stones, Jennifer (Brinser) Tucker and husband Ian Tucker, Jon Brinser, Raiden and Reese Phillips and Paul Jones III; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; husband, Neil; sister, Beulah (Rapp) Reed; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sue (Beery) Stones. A graveside service before interment in the Mount Hope Cemetery is being handled by Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud, Neb.
