Cecil Lowe Obituary

Cecil C. Lowe COLERAIN - Cecil Chamblee Lowe, 92, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1918 in Hertford County to the late Roy Lowe and Belle Chamblee Lowe. He was the husband of the late Bernice Brinkley Lowe. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of Harrellsville High School, a member of Colerain Baptist Church, past president of the NC Checkers Association, former director of the Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Association and a professional baseball umpire. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Ashley Memorial Chapel at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, the Rev. Robert May will officiate. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Fred Lowe and Douglas Lowe, both of Ahoskie, and Roy L. Lowe of Lake Waccamaw and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Humphrey and a brother, Earl Lowe. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Oxford Orphanage, Colerain Rescue Squad or to Colerain Fire Department. Family and friends may send online condolences to www.garrettjonesfh.com.
