Florentino Serquina Obituary

Florentino P. Serquina CHESAPEAKE - Florentino Paas "Tinong" Serquina, 87, passed away Nov. 11, 2010 at his residence. He was born Oct. 17, 1923 in San Nicolas, Pangasinan, Philippines. Tinong received his Bachelors of Science in education and majored in agriculture at Far Eastern University, Philippines. He was a teacher at Villa Verde High School, Dagupan City High School, and Tayug National High School, and retired after 35 years of serving his students. Tinong was a member of Resurrection United Methodist Church. He was a very loving family man, and had a passion for nature and plants. He was predeceased by his parents, Urbano and Marcela Paas Serquina; his wife, Teodora Rudio Serquina; his son, Romulo Serquina; and his daughter, Rebecca Serquina. He is survived by a daughter, Dr. Laarni S. Bibay and her husband Romulo Agustin Bibay of Chesapeake; son, Noel Rudio Serquina and his wife Maribeth of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren, Christian Blake Bibay, Bobby Rolan Bibay, Jasmine Adeline Bibay, Beverly B. Serquina, Mark Neil B. Serquina, Lei Lany B. Serquina, Abegail Noemay B. Serquina, Brent Nieman B. Serquina; and three great-grandchildren, Louise Bennet, Luke Brennan and Naoimi Laine. A visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. The service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Resurrection United Methodist Church 1322 Centerville Turnpike, Chesapeake by the Rev. Angelito Samson. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved father. Mr. Serquina was a very nice man and I can remember when he and his wife were going to church with us. May his soul now rest in peace and be reunited with his beloved wife.
