Nellie Gallagher Obituary

Nellie S. Gallagher NORFOLK - Nellie S. Gallagher, 93, died Nov. 4, 2010. She was born Dec. 13, 1916 to Charles C. and Sarah Stevens in Rappahannock Academy, Va. She was one of nine children. Her husband, Charles H. Gallagher Sr., and daughter, Catherine J. Gallagher preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Charles H. Gallagher Jr. and his wife Nan of Norfolk; one sister, Emma S. Cassidy of Fairfax County, Virginia; two grandchildren, Megan E. Gallagher and Caroline E. Gallagher of Norfolk; god-children, Allison D. Skees and Connor J. Skees of Norfolk, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gallagher retired from C & P Telephone Company after 35 years of service. She was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was one of the founding members of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Fairfax County. She lived in Fairfax County for 46 years before relocating to Norfolk in 1992. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. in Larchmont United Methodist Church, 1101 Jamestown Crescent, Norfolk, VA 23508. A private burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Province Place Assisted Living and her personal care nurse, Shelia Spence.
