Catherine Perry

Catherine H. Perry HOBBSVILLE - Catherine Hofler Perry, 94, of the 4000 block of Virginia Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 in her home. Mrs. Perry was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late J. Lewis and Erma Baines Hofler. One of the oldest members of Warwick Baptist Church, she and her husband founded C.A. Perry's Agribusiness in 1935 that later became and operates today as C.A. Perry & Son Inc. Active in the management of that company she worked there for many years and trained and instilled in other family members the businesses' values. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Conroy A. Perry; her sister, Dorothy Hofler Pierce Brothers, and her brother, H. Sidney Hofler. Surviving are her daughter, Alvis Perry Winslow and husband Burwell of Suffolk; her son, Sidney L. "Bud" Perry and wife Nancy of Hobbsville; six granddaughters, Catherine Winslow Evanoff and husband Joe of Manns Harbor, Linda Winslow Jernigan of Southern Shores, Mary Sydney Perry Copeland of Tyner, Leanne Perry Clayton and husband Corey of Merry Hill, Jennifer Perry Parks and husband Don of Elizabeth City, and Brenna B. Perry Halstead and husband Darren of Edenton; and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the family plot at Warwick Baptist Church by the Rev. Gene Asbill. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at her home.
