Thomas Treanor Obituary

Thomas Treanor Jr. CHESAPEAKE - Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Thomas Stanley Treanor Jr., 71, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, in his home. Born in Nashville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Thomas S. and Laura Dismukes Treanor. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Laura Lockie Treanor. He graduated from Tennessee Tech and retired from the U.S. Navy as captain after 31 years of service. Thomas was a recipient of Legion of Merit Gold Star in lieu of the Fourth Award. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Joy Cunningham Treanor; three sons, Thomas S. Treanor III and wife Elisabeth of Brentwood, Tenn., R. Scott Treanor of Littleton, Colo., and W. John Treanor and wife Kathy of Chesapeake; brother, Walter Treanor of Nolensville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren, Thomas S. Treanor IV, Joyce Treanor, Joseph Treanor, Travis Treanor and Evan Treanor. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, Sunday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Following the service, Captain Treanor will be transported to Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, Nashville. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in Calvary Cemetery, Nashville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
