Louise Slavens Obituary

Louise H. Slavens NORFOLK - Louise H. Slavens, 93, passed away Nov. 30, 2010 under hospice care. Originally from Indiana, she moved to Virginia in the the early 1940s and worked at NASA making model airplanes for testing in wind tunnels. She later married Thomas E. Slavens, now deceased, and taught elementary school for 35 years. She is survived by her only son, Delbert Slavens and his wife Wendy; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Fachin and her husband Glen, James Slavens, and Alexander Slavens and his wife Ruth; a great-granddaughter, Stella Street; a sister, Aurel Willer; a brother, Ray Hooker; and many nieces and nephews in Indiana. A memorial service will be held for her family and friends Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. at Squires Memorial Presbyterian Church, 770 Ingleside Road, Norfolk, VA 23502. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater assisted the family.
