Elens Miller

Elens Miller VIRGINIA BEACH - Elens Miller, 62, died Nov. 30, 2010 in a local hospital. Elens was born Oct. 9, 1948 to Sarah C. Miller and the late Elens Miller Sr. in Ithaca, N.Y. As a young man, he attended Immaculate Conception Church in New York and served as an altar boy. After high school, Elens joined the United States Navy Submarine Corps as a chef. Upon retirement, Elens attended Cobleskill Junior College and Rochester Institute of Technology; he also received an accounting degree from Tompkins Cortland Community College of New York. On Valentine's Day Feb. 14, 2009, Elens was united in holy matrimony to Rita Gregory- Jones. Prior to his death, Elens worked at Pizza Hut and the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach. He was a diligent worker and was loved by everyone who worked with him. He will long be remembered for his interest in history, and his love for reading. Cherishing his beloved memory is his wife, Rita; his mother, Sarah Miller; children, Elens D. Miller, Lee Miller and Edward Miller; stepsons, Shawn Gregory and Kecalf Cuffee; sister, Cynthia Miller and a host of family and friends. A celebration of Elen's life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 1396 Lynnhaven Pkwy., Virginia Beach. Elens will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, with military honors. Viewing will held from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel.
