Douglas Tatum Obituary

Douglas Calhoun Tatum SUFFOLK - Douglas Calhoun Tatum, 86, of the 100 block of Anna Goode Way, passed away Dec. 7, 2010 in Obici Hospital. A native of Henrico County, Virginia he was the son of the late John and Daisy Tatum. He was predeceased by his wives, Anne Bowyer Tatum and June Ford Tatum. He retired from Sup Ship Newport News & Dry Dock Company. He was a member of the Deep Creek Ruritan Club, the Isaac Walton League and was a charter member of West Side Christian Church in Portsmouth. He is survived by three daughters, Lynne T. Thomas and husband David, Pamela T. Gibbs and husband Leo and Mary T. Bond all of Chesapeake; a sister, Daisy T. Carson of Pamlico, N.C.; a brother, William Tatum of Hampton; six grandchildren, Douglas Gibbs, Erica Zyliak, Kevin Gibbs, Donald Thomas, Zachary Lowman and Brooke Lowman; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Tatum Zyliak. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jeffrey Pierce. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at West Side Christian Church with the Rev. Cyd Cowgill and the Rev. Woody Rea officiating. The burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be made to West Side Christian Church. Condolences may be offered to the family at snellingsfuneralhome.com.
