Revor Edwards Obituary

Revor Edwards PETERSBURG - After a long illness, Revor W. Edwards, beloved mother, sister, educator, passed peacefully Nov. 23, 2010 at Retreat Hospital, Richmond, Va. Mrs. Edwards a native of Norfolk was born Dec. 20, 1929, to the late Vernon R. Wallace and Alice Wallace Vaughan. She was predeceased by her husband, Letcher James Edwards; two sisters, June Johnson, Geraldine Hawkins; and one brother, Wendell Wallace. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Edwards was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1949. She received her bachelor's and master's from Virginia State College (university). She retired after 35 years of teaching and continued to mentor students. She is survived by her son, Trafford D. Edwards; a brother, Robert Wallace (Sarina) of Maine; and a sister, Eleanor Griffin (Richard) of Chesapeake; daughter-in- law; stepgrandson; and several nieces, nephews and other family members Mrs. Edwards was a member and past president of Alpha Omega Chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and she was also a member of other social and civic organizations. A memorial service will be held Dec. 11 at Carlos A. Howard Funeral Chapel, 436 35th St., Norfolk, VA 23508. Inurnment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. for the service. Please make any remembrance donations to the Union Grove Baptist Church 19111 Church Road, Petersburg, VA 23803.
