Frances Shushansky Obituary

Frances S. Shushansky NORFOLK - Frances Schreiber Shushansky died peacefully Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, among family members. Born March 24, 1919 she was the wife of the late Hyman Shushansky. "To make a long story short," Frances and her family were among the first members of Temple Israel. For 91 years, family was the center of her life and she will be missed dearly. She was a member of Temple Israel's Sisterhood and Hadassah and graduated from Maury High School. Frances is survived by her three children, Robbie Selkin and her husband Albert, Linda-Kay Hyman and her husband David, and Larry Shushansky and his wife Jolie. Frances is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Evelyn Eisenberg; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, by Rabbi Michael Panitz. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends after the funeral Friday until 5 p.m. at the home of Robbie and Albert Selkin. Friends and family will also be able to pay their respects Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Israel's Educational Fund.
