Ida Parker

Ida R. Parker SUFFOLK - Ida R. Parker, 64, of the 2400 block of Cherry Blossom Drive, passed away Dec. 27, 2010 at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. A native of North Carolina, she was daughter of Edward Harrell Riddick and the late Marjorie Knight Ford. Mrs. Parker attended Elizabeth City State University and Austin Peay University, Clarksville, Tenn. She retired as a computer analyst for civil service after 33 years of service. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was active in the Senior Usher Ministry, Missionary Ministry and Computer Ministry. She was also a member of the Official Board of the church. She leaves to cherish precious memory her husband, Thomas L. Parker Sr.; two daughters, Teresa Chipman (Daniel) of Suffolk and Tracey Lofton (Savaslas) of El Paso, Texas; one son, Thomas L. Parker Jr. (Benita) of Wendell, N.C.; her father, Edward Harrell Riddick of Newark, N.J.; one sister, Joyce Simpson of Newark; five brothers, Burl Riddick (Judy) of Newark, James Riddick (Mary) of Chesapeake, Sylvester Riddick of Newark, Larry Eure (Mary) of Sunbury, N.C., and William T. Eure of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The service to celebrate her life will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 31, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the pastor Dr. Anthony Copeland as the officiating minister.
