Troy Wilkerson Obituary

Troy Wilkerson SOUTH BOSTON - Troy Maxwell Wilkerson of the 700 Grove Ave., was promoted to Glory Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Duke University Hospital. He was born in Charlotte County, Virginia, Feb. 16, 1931 and was 79 years old at his death. He was the son of the late Troy Hannibal Wilkerson and Eddie Catherine Owen Wilkerson and was married to Marion Dore' Wilkerson. He was a retired master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force and worked for 16 years for Vicon Farm Machinery as a distribution center manager. He was an active member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Marion D. Wilkerson of South Boston; one daughter, Brenda W. Savage and husband Billy of Portsmouth; two granddaughters, Shannon D. Taylor and husband Jason of Portsmouth, Kelly S. Outlaw and husband Chad of Suffolk; three great-granddaughters, Morgan Taylor, Caitlin and Lauren Outlaw; two sisters, Juanita W. Smiley of Scottsburg, Janice W. Irby Snead of Halifax; and one brother, Don Wilkerson and wife Betty of Halifax. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Rigg conducting the service. Visitation will be held at Powell Funeral Home, 1603 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, VA 24592, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at his home.
