Born in Hollywood, Calif., Rhoda grew up in Ann Arbor, Mich., and was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan. Together with her husband, Jim, they raised their family in Ohio. Survivors include her husband, James W. Mackey Jr.; one son, Scott Mackey and wife Cindy of Norfolk; one daughter, Leslie Mackey of Nashville; two brothers, Bill Uhlendorf of Maryland and Paul Uhlendorf of Michigan; and four grandchildren, Christopher Mackey, Stephanie Mackey, Lexis Twomey and Austen Twomey. A memorial service celebrating Rhoda's life and spirit will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Beech Grove United Methodist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. Keith Moore. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one's favorite charity or cause. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.

My husband and I will always remember Rhoda and Jim speaking to us the first day after church. We knew this was the right place to be. What a beautiful lady! Warm, loving, genuine, and always appreciating the little things in life. Patty (Suffolk, VA)
