To the family & friends of Angela:
I am a distant cousin of Angela's who never got a chance to meet her, but when I heard of the loss of such a beloved girl as she obviously was; I felt compelled to offer my prayers and support to Angela's family. My name is Scot Sweet and my grandparents were Charles & Ann Samuelson. Though they've been gone for a while now, I still have Samuelson blood in my veins and will always send my constant prayers to my Samuelson kin in the Quad cities and beyond. Dear Mindi, Craig, Matt and families,
Our hearts break for you on the loss of Angie. Though our time together was short, you know we love her like she was ours. I, especially, think of her everyday, and wish i had been able to comfort her in recent weeks. I had a dream about her a couple weeks ago-she promised to go with me to every doctors appointment and take care of me. That is how I will keep her with me forever as my angel. She was beautiful and special and loved, possessing an essense that drew you to her. I hope you are comforted by the knowledge that Angie touched so many hearts and will never be forgotten.

I was so sad to hear about the loss of Angie. Though it had been a while since I'd seen her, Angie always holds a special place in my heart as a choir director and fellow youth group member. She was a bright spot in all our lives and will be greatly missed. I'll never forget the kind and comforting words she had for me when I was going through tough times during my senior year of high school. She had the great ability to put things in perspective and help see the bright side in a bad situation. My prayers are with her family... Grace and Peace be unto you...

I met Angie when my mother was her cheerleading coach at Mark Bills Middle. I then went to Richwoods with her and had many classes with her. I can honestly say that she was the most amazing woman I have ever met. Angie had a smile for everyone and kind words for anyone who crossed her path. She will always be such an inspiration for me and my family. I feel sorrow for the loss, but I know GOD had a plan for her. I know he needed her, and that he knew she had touched so many lives in such a positive way. We should all learn from the life that Angie led. She is the angel I hope to see when I go on.

To Craig, Mindi, Laura, Sheena, Matt and Nate:
My heart was broken when I first learned of Angie's illness. Angie, along with Laura and Sheena have always been dear to me as I was privileged to know them when they were the three little girls that lived next door. Angie and Sean were best friends with Sean looking to be Angie's protector. I only wish he could have protected her against this. But it was God's will to take Angie. I am so sorry for your loss and pain, and hope that one day soon you will be able to remember Angie - not with tears, but with laughter at the joy she brought into your lives. She was truly a beautiful (inside & out), sweet and caring person!

I went through St. Xavier's master program with Angie and had the opportunity to get to know her. She was a wonderful caring person that always wanted to help everyone around her. She was always there to lend her shoulder for you to cry on, to share sad and happy times, and to give you encouragement when you needed it the most. I am blessed to have known her. Angie and her family will continue to be in my prayers. I know that she is at peace and watching over us. Angie has touched so many lives and will continue to touch the lives of those that she knew. I can still remember the first time Angie said "Hi" to me at Richwoods. I couldn't believe this drop dead gorgeous blond would want to talk to a guy like me. If I hadn't been so shy at the time, I would have probably dropped to my knees and proposed that instant. Instead, I just stood there speechless, on cloud nine for the rest of the day. Being an awkward 15 year old Air Force brat with coke-bottle glasses and a little bit of a weight problem, I didn't think anything like this was possible. Maturing more, getting over my shyness with humor, and getting to know other people, I came to understand Angela a little better. As gorgeous as she was on the outside, that was nothing in comparison to her character and her capacity for kindness, patience, and understanding on the inside. I only hope that I am blessed enough to find and spend the rest of my life with someone even close to Angie.
I have found myself, like mostly everyone who knew Angie, looking for some sense in recent events; asking those questions of "why?" and "what good could ever come out of this?" I have found two answers, but can only answer for myself, of course. First, looking at the type of person Angie was and still is, I choose work towards emulating those qualities that made Angie so amazing. She had such a capacity for unconditional love, patience, passion, and compassion. I look to her example as an inspirational testament of someone to emulate and an example to evolve towards. Secondly, I see these recent events as a wakeup call to live and love now, rather than procrastinate and wait till later. In asking myself "what would I do differently if I knew I only had six months to live?", much comes to mind.
Thank you, Angie. Thank you for sharing your time, you smile, your generosity, your patience, your humility, and your love with me.
To Angie's hubby, mom, pops, and sis-es: I can't even imagine what you are going through, nor the loss you all have suffered. My prayers are with you. Please take comfort in the fact Angie is in a much better place, surrounded by and with her creator's infinite love. Please don't stop dreaming and don't stop living. Angie would have done no less.
On a final note, I think Angela left an incredible legacy. I'm Catholic and when I see how Angie lived her life, she reminds me a lot of two prominent saints: Mother Teresa and St. Thérèse de Lisieux. Like Angie, they both left the best legacy of all: through their example, by the way they lived.

To all of Angie's family....I can not express my deepest sympathy. But I know with all of the stories she had shared with me about florida, and just family times, she will be remembered with a smile. She was always smiling, and we shared sad and bad times. I will miss her as well others very much. With all my heart I am content to know that she is watching me, and all of us. I worked with her in early childhood at Garfield, and she welcomed me with open arms. We ate, laughed, and cryed, and I will cherish all of the moments I spent with her. Matt, you were her knight in shining armor, like someone said before you completed eachother, and she was blessed to have you by her side. Love you all. Angie I will miss you deeply....I will wait until I see your beautiful face and smile again.

I could never tell you guys how much I love your family. I feel like I grew up in your house and it was such a great time. Your daughter was a true, real friend and my life will never be the same since I have known her and now without her. She was amazing and although I didnt talk to her everyday, i know we were always in one anothers hearts. The world will not be the same without her. I can but only hope she is waiting at the gates for me.
Matt... I never got to meet you in person but I want you to know how amazing I think you are. Angie was lucky to have someone so wonderful by her side during all of this. Things seem easier when we have someone that truely loves us to hold our hand. She always spoke so highly of you. I could see the love in her eyes and I hope you will always feel her around you, because I know I will.

Angie was beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. This beauty was evident in her classroom and in her "children." I always enjoyed getting to visit her classroom. I also admired her assertiveness. God obviously has other plans for her and my guess is that she's now doing her 3rd goal in life. All of the babies in heaven now have a wonderful angel to care for them.
I will never forget her compassion and concern for others even in the face of her illness. I'm glad we were able to laugh even when there were tears. Her heart has made an impact on mine and many others in our early childhood family. I pray that the memories you have also bring you joy and laughter. She would want you to be happy and share joy.
Matt - I hope you know how much peace and love you brought to her life - you both completed each other.

Our thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family for quite some time. Al Hartzler and I often talked of Angie when my daughter Jonelle had her for pre-k it was then that we realized what a small world we live in to be connected to so many wonderful people. You truly had a wonderful daughter. I have read the other entries and they all say how kind, loving and caring she was and what a beautiful smile, these have been memories my family shares also. I tell my girls that she left us so early because all the little kids in heaven need a great teacher and now they have one of the best.

I was very fortunate to get to know Angela during our high school years together at Richwoods. It's funny how when people bring up a name, one moment always seems to stick out. For me, whenever anyone brings up Angela's name, I always think back to our senior prom and seeing her at dinner beforehand. As soon as she walked in, I stood up and made a comment about the future Prom Queen. Being noble as she always was, she just smiled, thought it would be nice, and went on with dinner. Well, later on that evening, when her name was called and she was announced as Prom Queen, she flashed that same beautiful smile that she did not 3 hours earlier. Humble, graceful, and sorely missed is how I will always remember Angela.
