Virginia Bartels Obituary

PEKIN - Virginia M. Bartels, 77, of Pekin passed away at 4:58 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006, at Pekin Hospital.

She was born on Oct. 17, 1928, in Pekin, Ill., daughter of Benjamin and Katherine Hunter Rains. She married Clifford C. Bartels on Dec. 24, 1946, in Pekin, Ill. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1973, in Pekin, Ill.

Also preceding her were her parents and a sister, Marietta Kaminski.

Survivors include two sons, DeWayne (Melody) Bartels of Peoria and Steven Bartels (and Barbara Besette) of Pekin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Rains of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia was a 50-year plus member of the First United Methodist Church in Pekin, Ill., where services will be on Thursday, June 8, at 10 a.m.

Visitation will be at Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, Ill., on Wednesday, June 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS), 2675 Allentown Road, Pekin, IL 61554.
