10th Circuit Court judge
LACON - 10th Circuit Court Judge Peter J. Paolucci, age 84, of 501 Woodlawn St., Lacon, died at 9:02 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born July 13, 1926, in Ladd, the only son of the late Peter J. and Rose (Feratti) Paolucci. He married Germaine Rick Zigler on June 28, 1952, at St. Xaviers Catholic Church in St. Louis. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Andrea (Bart) Propst of Dunlap and Mary Antonette Carp of Stuart, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tom (Cindy) Guede of Metamora, Jonathan Carp of Stuart, Fla., and Audrey (Travis) Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alysa and Kate Guede; and one sister, Irene Hickey of Park Forrest.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Enrica Bliss and Dr. Beatrice Paolucci.
He served with the United States Army Air Forces during World War II.
Peter graduated from Bradley University in 1950 and St. Louis University College of Law in 1955. He began his law practice in Lacon in 1955 and was admitted to try cases in the United States Supreme Court in 1960. He was Marshall County state's attorney from 1961 to 1969 and was appointed associate judge, serving from 1970 to 1974. He was 10th Circuit Court judge from 1974 to 1987, retiring in 1987. He returned to practice law in Lacon from 1989 until 2010.
He was a member of the Immaculate Catholic Church in Lacon, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 16, with rosary at 10 a.m. Father Thomas Mizeur, Father Ronald Enderlin and Deacon Bob Murphy will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, July 15, also at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 593.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon.
Arrangements are by Lenz Memorial Home and Funeral Planning Services of Lacon.

I was so saddened to hear of Pete's passing. I remember my grandparents (Mid & Jack Koch) were very fond of him and respected him very much. My sincere condolences to Rick and the rest of the family.
