Dean Brody family,
Brody was like a second father to me (Tom). I never called him Tom a day in my life, he was known as Brody to my whole family. Even my 85 year old grandmother. Brody was the most fun, loving and happy guy I ever knew. My dad (Frank Vertullo) and him were great friends for years. Brody was over for holidays my high school graduation and just for dinner. I'll never forget the day I hear about Brody passing away, it was like i lost a family member. I just wish I could have seen Brodys face on my wedding day, but he was in my thoughts and prayers that day and I know he was with my family too. I had to go to see his family and see for myself the day he passed. I will never regret that day as long as I live. Im glad I got to meet the Brody family and get some type of closure from myself and my family as well. We all love you guys. God Bless Take care.

Dear Family and Friends of Tom:
It is hard to imagine that a full year has passed and somehow life marched forward since Tom joined the legions of angels who watch over and care for us everyday. Each of us in our own way continue to feel Tom's mighty presence and are grateful for the gentle passage of time that eases our collective broken hearts. Know that all of you who especially loved Tom so dearly are not alone or forgotten during this difficult time of remembering. Our thoughts and memories join yours in celebrating a life well lived.
Respectfully,
Rose McKain

Dear Shirley & Gil:
It's been a long time, and I was so sorry to hear the news about Tom. He was such a special young man. I remember when he "begged" to cut our grass. Ed thought he might be too small, but he did a great job. We really missed him when he got too old for the job. My heart aches for both of you at this time. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Nancy

Even though I did not know him long, it was evident from the very first time that I met Tom, he was truly a great and wonderful person. I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know him and his friends and feel blessed because of it all. Tom had a fantastic demeanor about him that made you feel welcome. I only wish that we could have shared more time together. God bless all grieving family and friends, I will ensure to keep you in my prayers.

We were so sorry to hear of Tom's sudden death. I think I, Joan, met Tom once and Kerry never met him. He and I are sorry we didn't have a chance to know Tom. We see the love so many had for him and especially Sonja and Ashley and we are very touched for the loss that all of you have had. We want to extend our sympathy to Tom's family in the loss of their son and to Sonja's family in the loss of one who was such an important part of your family too.
May God be with you and comfort you and bless you with wonderful memories that will cause Tom to live on in your hearts.
Love,

I only met Tom through telephone conversations when he shared a home with his good friend, Doug Frazier. We talked numerous times, and it was as if I had always known him. My heart breaks for his family and friends. Doug always spoke so highly of him. He will be remembered as a true and trusted friend to many.

My Deepest sympathies to Gil, Shirley, and Tom's sisters. I can't say how saddened I was to hear this news. Tom made a great impression on me from very early in my life. I'll never forget working out in his garage the summer before 8th grade, playing street football after school with him, Eric, Mark, Jimmy, and Harold. Guys, I hope you all read this and remember just how good those times were with Tom... That being said, he was an even better person, it's a shame God needed you above so soon. Rest in Peace Tom.

Brody Family,
So very sorry for your loss. Tom was a very special friend to Mark Ross, the best friend. We always enjoyed Tom's company when celebrating Andy or Raquel's birhdays at Mark and Joey's house. He was part of our family too and always brought a smile or laugh to us all, with his may stories and life experiences. This picture truely depict Tom's smile and personality. He will be greatly missed by many and far to young to have been taken away. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
God Bless,

Sonja and Ashley,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the both of you, and to the rest of Tom's family. We've met Tom only a few times at family gatherings, but based on what you and others have written in this book, he must have been a very special man in both of your lives. I am thankful that you had someone THAT special to be a major part of your hearts and lives for so long. Hold on to the memories and find strength in our Lord as you grieve his loss. Dear Tommy,
I can't begin to tell you how much I'm going to miss you big brother. I spent the first half of my life as "Tom Brody's Little Sister" -- in a whirlwind of mischief and adventure. We grew up together, side by side, and you were there for me every step of the way. As we got older, you remained a great big brother to me and more than an uncle and Godfather to Sarah and Evan. They loved you so. Your spirit of adventure and your passion for life became a daily part of their lives. You were always there for me, no matter if we were 3 miles apart or 500. I will miss our long talks and the many other times you understood without saying a word. Tommy, you were ALWAYS there to help, whether it be moving something heavy, hauling thousands of boxes of girl scout cookies in your dump truck or getting Hunter to the emergency vet clinic in the middle of the night in the worst of the winter weather. I will miss your beautiful smile, your grumpiness and everything we'll never get to do together. Most of all, I will miss your bone crushing bear hugs. I can hear your voice saying "Don't worry Kath, I'm good." And I know your spirit is with me. I now realize that God needed you, His one-man-army, so I will try not to be sad, but happy for you and grateful to have you in my life. I love you big brother, and I will miss you forever. Your little sister, Kathleen

Tom,
I can still remember the day we met over 8 years ago. We were just talking about that the last time I saw you. Since then, you have known, entertained and inspired all of my family and friends. I will always remember the many laughs we had at hockey games, beating you at air hockey, and who would believe that Tom Brody would wear a pink softball shirt? Maybe you can pull some strings up there and we can win this season. It will be tough without you. Thank you for being such a good soul. LaBarbe’s will not be the same without you. I will miss you walking through the door and calling me “Mando.” You will be missed but I know you would want us all to celebrate your life and all of the good times and memories.

Dear Brody Family,
Without Tom, I will probably be riding around with flat tires! Living right across the street, he always was on the lookout for our family...and my flat tires! First it was my bike sitting on the sidewalk, then it was my car...twice! I can still hear his energetic voice in my head. And dont forget his famous..."You Know"! I think he just wanted to make sure we all knew! This world lost someone great...I only wish there were more people in this world like him. He will never be forgotten.

Tom,
The worst thing about you being gone is I can't talk to you about it. I always thought you would be here and I still can't believe I will not see you at an intersection hanging out of your truck window yelling at me. I guess I won't be taking your money this hockey playoff season, all my bets will be in honor of you. I'll try to think like you, it might hurt but I'll try. The world is a smaller place without you. Peace out brother.

Dear Gil, Shirley and family
Tom was 14 when we built our house across the street from yours in 1973. We were in our early twenties and you took Kathy and I into your family and made us a very special part of all family activities. Tom was like a brother, friend and a son when he needed me to get him out of a jam. Any one that knows Tom claims that they can write a book about about their experiences. Any book about Tom would be a best seller. I think the title of my book would be "HOW TOM INFLUENCED OUR LIVES". One of the stories would be about Tom moving top soil from his dad's front yard to the back yard before his dad returned from Europe. In doing so he cut through the phone line and the family was expecting a very imporant call from their dad about his travels. Needless to say there was a knock at my door and there was Tom with a very sick look on his face. We fixed the line and they received their call. This is just one of many stories that I will always remember. The only way that we can all get through our loss is to remember Tom for who he was. A gentle giant with a love for life and a love for all. You will be deeply missed my brother. Our deepest love and sympathy to Gil, Shirley and family.

The Brody Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I met Tom in high school and we spent a lot of time hanging out together. I will never forget the night we graduated from Gateway in '79 and went cruising in the "Grey Ghost". Although we didn't spend much time together the last 15 or so years, he had a tremendously positive impact on my life. He was so strong and energetic I always described him as a real life John Rambo. Every time I saw him he had that same smile and that zest for life. Tom will always be in my prayers and I feel honored to have known him. What a GREAT guy! Rest in peace buddy.

Tom,
I have never met anyone filled with as much spirit, joy, humor and zest for life as you. You lived your life with such a sense of alacrity and enthusiasm it doesn’t seem fair that our world is now void of a person filled with all of those qualities. You brought my sister happiness and comfort while being a second father and mentor to my niece. For that I will be forever grateful. Our family functions and holidays will not be the same without you, but I will always have your smile and the memories of previous times to keep me company. I am still in shock and pray that you are at peace with the Lord. Thanks for the laughs and the good-bye that will always bring a smile to my face - SEE YA!
To the Brody Family:
I pray that you will find comfort and peace over these next few weeks as we gather together to grieve our loss. Tom was such a blessing to my family, I am truly grateful for knowing him. May you focus on all of the wonderful memories you have of him and the laughter he gave us all.
To his Friends:
Our family thanks you for your kind words, comfort and support at this difficult time. We have all just lost a wonderful, dependable and reliable friend who will be greatly missed.

Brody,
We met in Kindergarten and have been best friends ever since. So many good times and great laughs.
The Homecoming trip to Penn State with Eck, Bill Downey and Ken Salmon in the brand new RV was the best. You made that a lasting memory for all of us. The look on your face when we walked into that stadium that held 105,000 people was priceless. That is one of the things I admired about you most. Your enthusiasm over new experiences and your zest for everyday life.
You're a lifelong friend that has left me with a lifetime of memories. Thanks Brody. You truly are the best.

GILBERT!,
You always knew how to make my family laugh even at 6 a.m. before you left for work with my dad. You always had to come in every morning with a big smile on your face just to say to my mom, "Good morning Janice." You taught Ray how to play deck hockey. You helped Meghan out when her and my dad were having rocky times. You helped me out with basketball and always told me "never to give up and keep playing the way you know how." You impacted my families lives, positively, without even trying. You were the sixth member of the family. My dad absolutely loved you. You were his right hand man. You knew what he was thinking before he even said anything. I know your in a better place right now looking down at your parents, three sisters, Sonja, Ashley, my family, and the other thousands of people whose lives have been impacted in such a wonderful way by you. We all love and miss you so much. You will always be in our hearts... FOREVER.

I met Tom through my ex-roomate (Patty Terry-Stewart) who worked with Tom about 29 years ago. He was like our "big brother" (although younger) and was always protecting and watching over us. Although I haven't seen him in over 24 years, he always was part of the conversation when I got together with my ex-roomates and we looked @ old photos. I KNOW that he is at peace and is making heaven a better place! I will miss him, and express my sympathy to your entire family and Sonja.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brody and Family:
I am the sister of Josephine and sister-in-law of Mark Ross. I have known your son casually for nearly 21 years, through the special bond he shared with Mark Ross. Tom will always be remembered by me and my family as Mark’s brother. At every family function, since I have known my brother-in-law, Tom was always there. We shared birthday cakes, jokes, pizza, sandwiches, beers, laughter, love, and even a few tears. Tom served as a pallbearer when we laid our mother to rest just two years ago. In every entry in this guest book, I have read of Tom’s generosity, Tom’s sincerity, and the love that he gave to everybody he met. My family and I, like all the other family and friends who have described Tom, experienced his huge smile, his sparkling eyes, and his honest interests in and affections for all whom he encountered. Tom’s star has soared to the heavens far too soon, but Tom’s light will shine eternally. Given the sorrow that I feel, and the simplicity of our relationship, I humbly submit that I cannot offer any words to you, or to Sonya and her family that could adequately address your loss. I do know though that for as long as I gather my own family with Joey and Mark Ross and their children, and our other extended family members, Mark’s brother, Tom, will always be among us. With profound sympathy for your loss, and on behalf of my entire family, I ask that God continue to embrace all of you with His enduring love – which I’m certain manifested itself, always, in Tom’s life.

Mr.&Mrs. Brody: Although we never met, I knew your son from MSA. He was one of the kindest, hard working, funniest guys I have ever known. I'll never forget the time my father passed away and while we were at the funeral home, Tom surprised me and made sure the lawn looked beautiful when we came home. There were so many fun times during those years and Tom made them special. You must be given credit for doing a fine job of raising him because he truly knew how to treat people. Tom was taken from us way to early but I'm sure he is making sure the greens in heaven remain gorgeous. My thoughts and prayers go to your family.

Dear Tom,
You went so quickly, and it's still hard to believe. I never thought I would be writing something like this, but I want you to know how much I love you. You were always there, laughing with me, keeping me going, and listening to me. We could always just look over at eachother and know exactly what we were thinking, and start laughing. You taught me how to laugh and smile. You were so full of life, and I thank God that you showed me how to live. This isn't real. I keep looking at my phone, hoping that I'll see your call coming through and when I answer, hear you say "Hey Goob!" But I know that you're in a better place, looking down on all of us. You, my mom, and I were a family, and it will always be that way, you will always be with us. You will be my motivation to keep doing well, and do something good with my life because I know that's what you really wanted. Oh, and thanks to you, I will know self defense and how to use a leaf blower, but I will know the best how to be happy.
Love, Ashley aka Goob

Tom, what a shock to hear that you passed. It deeply saddens me to no end. You were a good guy and a good neighbor. I will miss yelling to you from my back yard to your back yard. Talking about hockey, softball and other general topics. I remember when I first met you after you helped out my elderly mother with a ride. I'll have a few Corona on the rocks in your memory and will always have the garage door open for you.

Mr. & Mrs. Brody & Family:
Michael and I have only know Tom, "Brody" for about 4-6 months as he recently became a customer. He was always happy and a really great guy. He always had a smile and a kind word for anyone in his path. He will be greatly missed.
We are certain that he is up there with the strongest of winds...flying his kites and smiling.

Tommy my Goodness you are leaving us way too soon man. For the past 10 years you have been a great friend whom I could talk with, confide in and always trust. You were always there to help me move my furniture, offices and whatever else needed thrown around a bit. We talked a lot about a lot of things over the years. I have been trying to recollect them over the past few days. When you did not show up to help me move Saturday I knew something was wrong. When you said you would be there you always were. You spoke so highly so many times about your parents and you were a model son to them. You were so very proud to be a Godfather to your niece. You taught me so many things over the past few years Brody that I will never forget. You watched my boy play deck hockey and even found the time to show him some moves. You always found the time Tommy B even after working that extra job to make ends meet. I know you portrayed the big tough guy image on the outside but I saw the other side first hand. Thanks for the memories buddy you will be missed tremendously. May God Bless You...

My heart goes out to your entire family. May the God of all comfort who comforts us in our our pains and sorrow give you all the needed strenght to go from one day to the next.

Even though we didn't have the same blood running through our veins, Tom was and always will be a member of our family. We loved him dearly. He was the best friend Mark could ever have had, a wonderful god-father to our daughter, role model for our son. Words could never express the loss we feel and how deeply and terribly he will be missed. Our memories of Tom are our most cherished ones. Our major family functions will never be the same . . . he was always there. We offer you our most sincere, deepest sympathies and our love. Mark, Joey, Andy and Raquel Ross
