Teresa L. (Murphy) James
of Binghamton
Teresa L. James, 85, of Binghamton, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, surrounded by her loving children at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Donald E. James, Sr.; and her parents, Anna and Leo Murphy, Binghamton; brothers and sisters, Edward, William, Raymond and Madeline. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Michael Smilnak, Dunedin, Florida, Anne and Richard Gleason, Indialantic, Florida, Margaret Winkler and her fiance, Bob Nacke, St. Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Barbara James, Jr., Chenango Forks, William and Sherry James, Cary, N.C., Robert and Sandra James, Binghamton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jeremy and Nicole James, Joseph and Anne James, Robert and Jennifer Winkler, Michael Winkler, Thomas Winkler, Lara Smilnak, Taylor James, Matthew James, Katherine James; four great-grandchildren, Dominic and Benjamin James Winkler, Alexander Murphy James, and Jenna James. Teresa was also survived by her sister, Mary McGory; and brother, Reverend Daniel Murphy, Binghamton; sister-in-law, Bernardine James, California; and 20 nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mary Ellen McGory. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton. Teresa graduated from St. Paul's High School, Binghamton. Her greatest love was for her family and that love and care will be sadly missed. Teresa had a great devotion for the Blessed Mother. The family would like to thank the staff on the fifth floor at Ideal Nursing Home and the staff and doctors on the second and fourth floor at Wilson Hospital for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Teresa may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, N.Y. 13903; or Birthright of Binghamton, Inc., 435 Main Street, Johnson City, N.Y. 13790.
