Lucas, Adam and Amanda,

Your parents always made me feel so welcome at your house growing up -- whether we were just hanging out in the kitchen talking to your mom or watching football in the living room with your dad. All I remember are great times -- good conversation, lots of laughing and your mom's tasty meatloaf. I'll always cherish those memories.

Today I was thinking about how your mom used to drive us all over the place in that blue minivan during our early years at SCC and your dad taking all those pictures of our football games. They were great people whose love for you was always obvious.

I wish I could have been there Thursday to see you. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

And Lucas, I miss you, bud. Stay strong.

Dear Van Zandt Children, I am so sorry for your loss. Although I never met Amanda, I knew you boys from OTB. My heart goes out to all of you. Your father was truly a great man. He always gave me free legal advice, as he knew I was a single mother. Your mom must have been a wonderful person as well, as they raised the three of you together. I remember when the little grandson came along who loved trains. I thought Pete would burst. He spoke of and was so proud of each of you. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. May your cherished memories bring you peace in the weeks and months ahead. You are in my prayers.
