Elsie Hollingsworth "Holly" Campbell Fox, 87, died July 10, 2008 at White Horse Village in Newtown Square, Pa. Born July 2, 1921 on Staten Island, N.Y., she was the daughter of Robert and Helen Daub Campbell of Plainfield, N.J. Throughout her life she remembered with fondness growing up on Staten Island and had a special nostalgia for the Staten Island Ferry and Brooklyn Bridge. Mrs. Fox was a 1939 graduate of George School in Newtown, Pa. She married her husband of 48 years, Earle Blair Fox, Jr., known as Pete and E.B., of Annapolis, Md. on March 30, 1946 in Plainfield, N.J. He preceded her in death in 1994. Prior to retiring to White Horse Village, she and her family were longtime residents of Haverford, Pa. Holly was a kind and gentle spirit who loved taking care of others and expected nothing in return. She loved art, literature, history and family history, antiques, politics, and current events. She loved to travel and went on many adventures with her husband and family. She especially appreciated France and French culture. She is remembered with love by her son, Earle Blair "Pete" Fox, III, Haverford, Pa.; daughters, Margaret "Meg" Lansing Fox Van Laak, Burney, Calif., and Carolyn Hollingsworth Fox Mead, Strafford, Pa.; grandsons, Loren Mead, Nick Mead, Blair Fox and Charlie Fox; granddaughters, Frances Fox and Jessica Van Laak; and her sister, Sarah Campbell Coale, Newton, Pa.
A celebration of her life is set for Saturday, July 19, at 2 p.m., in the small church at St. David's Episcopal Church in Radnor, Pa. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Hillington Cemetery in Morris, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, P.O.
