Dr. Warren W. Mead Jr.
of Vestal
Dr. Warren W. Mead Jr., 79, of Crescent Lane, Vestal, N.Y., died July 21, at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, N.Y. Warren was the son of the late Warren W. Mead Sr. and Emily Rust Mead. He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis; son, David; daughter, Sally; sister, Helen Kruger; niece, Connie Lais; sister-in-law, Jean Mead; and brother-in-law, John Betz. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; son Roger, Clifton Park, N.Y., son, Mark; and daughter, Nancy Carlson and her husband, Jeffrey, Schenectady, N.Y., daughter, Karen Pyle and her husband, Richard, Longmont, Colo. He is also survived by brother, James Mead; and sister, Marion Betz, both of Amsterdam, N.Y.; stepchildren, Scot McClellan and his wife, Maureen, Hollis Misiewicz and her husband, Pete, and Bruce McClellan and his wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Ronald Mead and Ryan and Lauren Pyle; step grandchildren, Laura, Nathan and Christine McClellan and Tracy, Tara, Mathew, Brian and Jeffrey Misiewicz; nephews, Richard, David, and Jack Betz, Ronald Mead and Robert Kruger; niece, Carol Wilary; and several great-nephews and nieces. Born in 1929, Warren was a 1947 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Dr. Mead attended Cornell University and graduated from the University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1953. Warren always believed strongly in the veterinary program at Cornell. He went on to practice veterinary medicine in Amsterdam, being a partner in the Moore and Mead Animal Hospital. Later, Dr. Mead established the Capitaland Veterinary Hospital in Latham, N.Y., which he ran until his retirement in 1993. Warren was a member of the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Warren was a devout member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal. Warren was a caring and gentle man who will be missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam, N.Y. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. Contributions may be made by check, written to Cornell University, with a memo stating Veterinary College: John W. Whitehead Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Warren Mead. Mail checks to Cornell University, P.O. Box 2600, Ithaca, N.Y. 14851. Contributions may instead be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 157 Clark Street, Vestal, N.Y. 13850.

Mark, Nancy, Karen, & Roger,
So sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. He was a true freind to me, and I will never forget your Mom or your Dad. I felt proud to know both your parents, they were fantastic people. I will never forget the great times we had working for them on the farm, and at Capitaland Animal Hospital. I am truely glad that Warren & Phyllis are back together again, and with Sally.
They will be, and have been missed.
