Marilyn Jean Esworthy
of Binghamton
Marilyn Jean (BeGasse) Esworthy, 80, of Binghamton, died Monday afternoon, August 4, 2008, at home, peacefully with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph W. Esworthy, Sr.; her parents, her parents, Otto and Miriam L. BeGasse; her brother, Bruce BeGasse; and a sister, Jeannette VanWormer. She is survived by her children, Cheryl and David White, Joseph W. Jr. and Charlotte Wage Esworthy, Michael Esworthy, Maureen and Charles Warren, John and Nancy McCoy Esworthy, Kevin Esworthy and fiancee, Therese Haines, Thomas and Winnie Guiton Esworthy, Mary Kathleen and Michael Stiles; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Connie Esworthy and Patricia BeGasse; and brother-in-law, John Esworthy. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Binghamton, and volunteered her time teaching Religious Education, working at the school cafeteria and doing church linens. She enjoyed golfing with her family and friends and vacationing in the Adirondacks. She was an avid bowler, loved the N.Y. Mets and loved to bake and cook for her family. Special thanks to Hospice and Pam and home care aide, Rita, and neighbors, Frank and Sue.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Binghamton, Thursday at 9 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, at the convenience of the family. The family requests that flowers please be omitted and expressions of sympathy in memory of Marilyn be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850. Arrangements by J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton.
