Warren Niggli Obituary

Warren H. Niggli
of Greene
Warren H. Niggli, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home. He was predeceased by parents, Ralph and Alice Niggli and by two brothers, Robert and Richard Niggli. Warren is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Niggli; children, Gloria Kilburn, Laguna Beach, Calif., Norman and Maureen Niggli, Greene, Judy and Joseph Tchir, Endwell, Warren and Karon Niggli, Ancaster, Ontario Canada; grandchildren, Kyle and Ryan Niggli, Jennifer Fian and Michael Tchir; great-grandchildren, Rhiannon and Sierra Niggli; sister, Betty Simmons; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Jane Niggli; several beloved nieces and nephews. Warren was born in Rochester and was raised in Binghamton. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army 77th Infantry in the Pacific. He received numerous medals including the Purple Heart. After a life-long career in communications, Warren retired as an Engineer from ConTel Communications. Warren was an avid outdoor sportsman who loved hunting, golfing and fishing with his family. Warren spent his retirement years in Florida.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, at Zion Episcopal Church, Greene. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene. Friends of the family may call Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at Zion Episcopal Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Episcopal Church, 10 North Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778, or to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850, or to United Methodist Homes/Hilltop Campus, Memorial Fund, 286 Deyo Hill Rd., Johnson City, NY 13790. Arrangements are by the Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778.

Mrs. Niggli & family,

I was saddened to hear of your recent loss. I can remember fond memories of Mr. Niggli as a little kid and later as a teen when we lived on Rte. 206 near the cemetary.

I'm sorry I couldn't make it for the service, but I wanted to know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dottie, Gloria, Judy, Norman and Warren: My deepest sympathy to all of you and your families. Sorry I could not be there, but my thoughts are with you. Johnston nursing center took good care of Dad, and I am sure they took good care of Warren. Wishing you all peace.
