Adam Askew Obituary

Adam M. Askew
of Willseyville
Adam M. Askew, 17, of Willseyville, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2008 after a brief, but courageous battle with leukemia at University Hospital in Syracuse. Adam is survived by his parents, Wayne (Mary) Askew, Willseyville, and Cari (Robert) Rich, Willseyville; brothers, Kyle Askew, Willseyville, and Lucas Rich, Willseyville; grandparents, Ted and Leona Farrell, Willseyville, Carole Askew, Ithaca, Bill Askew, Sr., Orlando, Fla.; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Adam had just graduated from Candor High School, and was best known by his friends as "Cheese." Adam found interest in sound engineering and often volunteered his talents at school plays. Adam played the bass guitar and just recently formed a band with some of his friends. He was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills, and loved to attend games.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 17 Main Street, Candor, with burial to follow at Smith Valley Cemetery. The family invites friends to call on Monday, August 18, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Candor. Memorial contributions may be made in Adam's memory to The Jonathan Cancer Fund, Inc., 650 James Street, Syracuse, N.Y. 13203. Arrangements are by the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home.

Adam was a wonderful young man with a bright future that was tragically cut short. We speak of him often. Hopefully he is at peace and with his Dad now. Love you and miss you both!

I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to friends and family. I am very fortunate to have had Adam in my life for seventeen years. I am so happy to hear how much he made people laugh and smile. All the angels in heaven did welcome a newcomer. I'm sure he got his wings and is in the "Angels Band" with the nickname "Cheese". I will often think of him when todays music is played. My special guardian angel will always be with me. I can't make sense of this tragic loss, and my heart is very heavy, but it does soften the hurt to know how loved and cherished he was by everyone around him. I will miss him always. Mom loves you Adam.

The Family of Adam Askew

August 29, 2008

The family of Adam Askew wishes to thank family, friends, and the Candor community, all of whom have, in so many thoughtful ways, expressed sympathy and support while mourning with us the sad loss of Adam. Sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at University Hospital and Candor Family Care, for the care given to Adam during his illness; to Rev. Louise Shepard and Rev. Carrie Schofield-Broadbent for their spiritual support to our family during Adam’s last days; to Rev. Lewis Coffin for the beautiful funeral services; to the family and friends that served as pallbearers; to Estey, Munroe, and Fahey Funeral Home, and Smith Valley Cemetery, for their sensitive handling of the arrangements and burial; and to everyone at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church-- Rev. Judy Upham, organist Nancy Jacobsen, the Vestry, ECW, Altar Guild, and fellow parishioners--for all their help with the services, the refreshments and luncheon, and their kind support to us during this difficult time. God bless you all.

hi Farrell Family- My heart is heavy this day, as i find out Adam passed away. I am truly sorry for your loss and the whole left in all your souls...I will always remember the Halloween i came up to the "house" dressed in black with a Blonde wig on and Adam asked me "who are you" cuz he didn't know it was me.. May you find a smile on your face after reading this, for it is written to soften the hurt.. Love and hugs from me.. Mickki

Wow, It seems like just yesturday we were talking about what we were going to do after high school since you graduated a year ahead of me. Adam was so courageous with the worst battle one could ever encounter. I admire him and he will be my inspiration to never give up. Love and miss you,

God bless you and keep you, Adam. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Kari and Wayne. I met Adam only once, and briefly. But both my boys, Nick and Sam, love him and have told me what a wonderful human being he was. It's because of them that I know Cheese left this world a little better off than he found it. What a blessing to us all!
