Katherine "Kitty" Myskiew

Katherine "Kitty" Myskiew, 89, of Thompson, Pa., died on August 29, 2008, in Susquehanna, Pa. She was born on August 2, 1919, the daughter of Anthony and Annie (Bobyk) Jandre in New York, N.Y. Katherine married Joseph Myskiew on August 6th, 1938 in Uniondale, N.Y. and he predeceased her on April 21, 2006. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Katherine was well known for her crochet artistry. In her younger years, she won many top awards at local fairs. In later years, her work was featured in the national crochet magazine, Country Afghans. In keeping with her generous nature, she donated many Afghans to charity raffles and gave away many masterpieces to friends and family. Surviving are two children, Robert Myskiew, Pleasant Mount, Pa., and Stephanie and her husband Andrew Olver, Troy, Pa.; three grandchildren, Anna and Tony Myskiew, and Emily Babyak; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a best friend and "adopted daughter," Anita FeDora. Katherine was predeceased by a son, Joseph Jr., on December 21st, 1987.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. at Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock and a Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 4th, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Juliana's Roman Catholic Church in Rock Lake, Pa., with Father Patrick Albert officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Juliana's Cemetery, Rock Lake, Pa.
