Karol Roman
of Vestal
Karol Roman, 83, of Vestal, N.Y., passed away peacefully on September 3, 2008 at Meadow View Senior Living Center. Karol was born in Hermanice, Poland in 1925. Karol left Poland and fought with the Polish Army in World War II. After the war Karol met and married Johanna in Holland and immigrated to the United States. They made Endicott and later Vestal Center their home. Karol was a firm but loving father and provider for his family. Karol was a tool maker by trade and worked for Philips in Holland, K. Hein Machines and IBM Owego. He was a member of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church and was involved in church activities for many years. Karol was predeceased by his wife, Johanna; his mother, Anna Szarzec; his father, Jerzy Roman; and 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Karol Jr. and Judy Roman; grandchildren, Brian Perry, Aaron and Joel Roman (Brackney, Pa.); son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Melanie Roman; grandchildren, Jessica and Katlyn Borzillieri (Manlius, N.Y.); numerous nieces, nephews and their families including Halina and Janusz Palowicz (Ustron, Polland), Krisha Poplicha (Gliwice, Poland), Olga and Ervin Balonovi (Ostrava, Czech Rep.), Steve and Ruth Roman (New Milford, Pa.), Liz and Gary Dougherty (Romulus, N.Y.), James Patton (Towanda, Pa.), Paul and Debbie Roman (Meshoppen, Pa.); dear friends, Christina Kopf (Binghamton), Edmond Myszka (Eindhoven, Neth).
Family and friends are invited to visit from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon, Monday, September 8th, at Vestal Center United Methodist Church, West Hill Rd., Vestal. Funeral services will be held at Vestal Center United Methodist Church, West Hill Rd., Vestal at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Roger Frederick will officiate. A private burial will follow at Vestal Park Cemetery, Main St., Vestal. The family welcomes either flowers or contributions in dad's memory to the Vestal Center United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal.

Karol & Paul and families. We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. Your parents were wonderful folks. We have such fond memories of them. Especially the progressive dinners and how they fit all of us into their home. God bless you.

I have many fond memories of both your dad and mom. Through the years at the Vestal Center Methodist Church we had many nice experiences. I will miss them both.

I worked with Karol at IBM Owego from 1967 until his retirement. Karol was a good friend and a very good Toolmaker. I learned a lot from him.
