Whittenburg Family: My deepest sympathy to your family, I have been out of town for work and my sister notified me of Grady's passing. I have very fond memories of Grady as a baseball coach in my teen years in Newark Valley, he was one of many who had an impact on my life at that time. He will always be remembered. God Bless. My prayers are with you at this time.

To Whittenburg Family:
I am sorry to hear of Grady's death. I worked with with at Universal for many years. Grady was Grady. There will never be another! However God is going to have to figure what to do with him. Knowing Grady, he will try to improve Heaven just a bit to remind him of "his roots." May God give you and your family the strength to get through these times. Just remember this thought, grady probably has God laughing already!
May the Love of God and His Blessed motehr be with y'all forever!

Ginny, Grady, Jr., and family--
Our hearts are broken by the loss of Grady, but yet we rejoice that he is at home in Heaven with his Lord now, and he is waiting for all of us to join him when it is our time. We were priviliged to be a part of Grady's family, and to share so many memories with you, especially through the last four years. They were not easy years, but they were God's gift to all of us to have those years to express our deep love for you. We will always be there for you all. We love you guys!
May the Lord bless in the days ahead.

The thing I'll remember most about Uncle Grady is how he was always positive and light-hearted, even faced with his recent medical problems. I remember as a kid, when going with my parents to Aunt Ginny and Uncle Grady's house for their card games, he would be funny make it enjoyable for me, even though I didn't play cards with them. He was always fun to be around, and I he will be missed.

Ginny, I worked for Grady at Universal back in 1973. He was always there for me getting started in my new career. Grady was a fun guy to be around. He had an unforgetable smile.
Your family will remain in my prayer time, knowing that the Lord Jesus will raise you up in comfort in the days ahead.
May God richly bless you.

You will be greatly missed Uncle Grady. I will always remember how you made me smile when I was a little girl, with your endless pockets of candy (a trait my own children enjoyed and will miss). You also gave me my first tastes of beer and shrimp, which you knew I'd grow to enjoy. Most of all, I will remember that you always made me (and everyone) feel welcomed and loved.

My uncle Grady always knew how to enjoy the lighter side of life. One of my earliest memories of him is sitting on the back steps of his trailer (we were all really young then) and offering me a sip of his Genny as he enjoyed the cool summer air. I thought it was disgusting- he thought it was hilarious. My eight year old palate matured, and I eventually acquired a taste for beer, although never Genesee. Uncle Grady was known as Uncle Candy because any kid who wandered over to his door came back with pockets and fists full of sweets. Despite long work hours, he was always at “little” Grady’s sports games, chatting it up with parents and students; he could carry on a conversation with anyone and make you feel like you were his best friend. I think that was the Southerner in him. And who wouldn’t be enchanted by his basement? A slot machine, a pool table, a poker table and a full bar – it didn’t get any cooler! When we got older, Grady let us share his private driving range (front lawn) to practice our miserable golf swings, often on hand with sound advice on how to correct our swing. My last image of Uncle Grady was the day he went to the hospital this past August. Gin and I were waiting outside his room in the ER, and as they wheeled him past us to have some test done, there was that familiar smile and the sparkling eyes with his thumb up. Uncle Grady was always glad to see you, and I am glad to have shared in his life.
