I met Mr Shoemaker at the wedding of my niece Jennifer and Bob Shoemaker. I found him a very engaging and interesting man and quick with a smile. He was sure fond of his Binghamton Hockey team. Our prayers and thoughts are with Mr Shoemaker and his family.

Jim and I always smile when we think of Mr. Shoe. He was a great one. I always appreciated his wise counsel.

He had a way about him that you always knew that no matter what -- after you spoke to Ron -- things would turn out alright.

Among the life long lessons I learned from Ron...

1. Life is like cleaning the heads on a 3/4 deck.

2. It will be better in the new building. (place, etc.)

3. Sometimes, you have to get on the bus.

4. How to use the Internet. Yes, Ron had an Internet Connection before I could afford one and I got my first look at the Internet on his computer.

5. Binghamton Whalers rule!

On a serious note, Ron was always generous with his time and wherever he went he improved the space just by being there. I can't express how sad I was to hear this news, yesterday.

Please know that he and you are in our thoughts.

I remember Ronnie very well when I was employed in the broadcasting industry many, many years ago. He was very knowledgeable, and did not mind sharing his technical know-how with us younger guys who were just starting out in the area of Broadcast Engineering. My prayer is that Ron’s family will find comfort in knowing that he had so many friends, and touched so many lives in such a positive way.

What a great man !! Being around Ron was a joy..his laughter was infectious... I called on Ron for several years, when he worked at WBNG, and it was always one of my favorite stops.

Such a terrible loss.... I last saw Ron at a MCB concert in August and as always he greeted me with his big smile and outstretched hand. Ron always shared that he missed my father since his death in 2001 and it was nice to know my dad had such a caring friend.
Since I moved away in 2000 my contacts have been limited, but I always looked forward to getting back to Binghamton to see Ron and remind him that I actaully had been to Lykens and I was not lost.
May we all be comforted with the knowledge that the promises of Ron's faith are all being fulfilled in our Father's Heavenly Kingdom.
You will be missed.

I met RonnieShoe when I was in WNBF's Explorer Post 12. What I learned from him about broadcast equipment was a big influence for me to eventually get an EE degree (although the computer bug bit and I ended up doing that). But i did put a station on the air using a lot of what Ronnie showed me about, well, all that stuff.

We will all miss him. He was one of a kind.

Donna, Rob, & family, we are so sorry to hear of Ron's passing, which we learned from the church's e-mail chain. We knew Ron from Chenango Bridge Methodist, sharing his God given talent, whether he was sitting in the sound booth or playing his trumpet in front of the congregation .

Dear Mrs. Shoemaker,

Ron was one of a kind. I worked with him for almost 12 years at WBNG. When I lived out on Hunt Hill Road, I left for work one day and shortly developed a flat tire on I-88. I called the station, and they gave me Ron's number at home. I called him, and he came out to my car, fixed the flat, then made sure to follow me to work because I was driving on a donut tire. He and his crew of gentlemen could never do enough for anyone they met. He would often go out during rough weather and get the Traffic Director at her house, or ferry other employees up the hill from the Mall. He will be very dearly missed.

I was saddened to learn of Ron's untimely passing. I first knew Ron while a member of the old Explorer Post 12 at WNBF. Ron was always willing to share his knowledge with the aspiring broadcasters, many of whom went to to broadcasting careers.

I also knew Ron while working in Master Control at Channel 12. Ron was a master technician, he was unflappable in getting things working again. I will always remember Ronnie Shoe's great laugh and how he was able to find humor in any situation.

We're all better people for having known Ron. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy during this difficult time.

I knew Ron from both WBNG and Fox 40 and never saw him down or even in a bad mood. He always had a smile and a chuckle and could brighten up the worst of days.

Truly a wonderful man that will be greatly missed.

Dear Donna and Family,
I was shocked at the passing of Ron,he was a great friend and golf partner.Riding with Ron on the golf cart when not talking about how bad at golf we were Ron would talk about the Broadcast industry and were the technology, and how he loved the direction it was going. I have so many great memories of Ron and his laughter. He will be dearly missed.

I am so sad. I met Ron in 1971 when I came to Binghatmon with WNBF Radio. He was an engineer at (then) WNBF TV. Ron was the friendly face in the crowd. From that time to this, I have always considered Ron to be a great friend and wonderful man. Ron may be gone now, but my fond memories of him will last my entire life.

To the Shoemaker Family;
Connie & I were shocked to hear of Ron's passing. I have known Ron from the early 1960's and have been priveledged to be called his friend. We worked together at WNBF-TV Ch.12 and I have been working together with him on problems at WICZ recently. He has been a regular attendee and contributor at our local SBE meetings. Ron had a wonderful outlook on life, always had kind words for people and loved to share stories of himself and his family. He was a wonderful friend and mentor. We pray for your family during this time of sorrow. We will forever miss him.

Donna and Family:

I first met Ron in 1960 when I started working as a broadcast engineer at WNBF-TV, through its transition to WBNG-TV, and have known him ever since. He impressed me as a man who knew everything there was to know about television and electronics in general. Whenever a problem was presented to him, he took the time to analyze it and then quickly solve it. There wasn’t a piece of equipment that could ever get the best of him. He could repair anything, smiling as he did so, and giving his signature chuckle when the job was done. Nothing and no one ever affected his great sense of humor.

Ron had a positive outlook on things. He always had something nice to say about everyone. It was a pleasure to work with Ron and an honor to know him. I will always treasure my memories of Ron, and the genuine friendship we shared as two old retired guys. I will forever miss him.

Donna and Family,
We have really never met. I new "Shoey" when we were teenagers; and, met through the same trumpet lessons teacher. We played together in a number of parades with the Lykens Hose Company and Tower City High School bands. He was a great friend; and, became a much better trumpeter than me through his dedication to practice. I'll miss him!

Donna, Bob and Denise:

We were shocked to hear of Ron's death. Our trips to Binghamton won't be the same without Jim getting together with Ron for Texas Hots or having Friday lunch with Ron and the gang. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

This is just too difficult to even imagine.

Ron was my hockey buddy, my friend, my confidant, and my mentor.

He was someone who was always available to help out whenever the opportunity arose.

My thoughts and prayers will be with Donna, Bob, and Denise and his Grandchildren with the knowledge that Ron will never be forgotten.

Borrowing a recent comment I heard: “We are all better for having known him.”

I worked with Ron for many years at Channel 12 and he was a great guy.
He was always helpful and so very knowledgeable. Many of us in the newsroom could often be heard saying "Get Ron, he'll know how to fix it. I know that even after he retired he would come in to give tours of the facility to students from local schools, including my own son.
He will be greatly missed.
