David E. Ferguson
of Owego
David E. Ferguson, 71, of Owego, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, October 5, 2008. David was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Ella Ferguson; son, Keith Ferguson; and sister, Maggie Crider. David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanette; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Hagquist, Owego; grandchildren, Travis and Taylor Hagquist; brother, Cecil (Mary Lou) Ferguson, Ava, Mo.; and sister, Roberta Roberts, Ava, Mo. David graduated from Roosevelt High School in Fresno, Calif. in 1955 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. He was a staff engineer in the display subsystems engineering department of IBM Owego and retired in 1991 at the age of 54. After retiring from IBM, David became involved with the Tioga County Senior Citizens Council, where he was named "Senior of the Year" in 2005. David was instrumental in installing computers for seniors to use and he gave instruction in word processing, the Internet, e-mail and graphics use. He also had a love of photography, and also gave instruction in digital photography. He was a member of the Owego Camera Club for 27 years, was a board member for Skyline Corral for 10 years, and a board member for the Senior Citizens Council.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Loretta Perry officiating at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Family invites friends to call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. I know what you are going thru, lost my wife of 41 years in 1998. I haven't seen Dave since June 1955 when we graduated from RHS in Fresno. He was a good friend in Cadets & the Photo club. Photo club may have been motivated by skirts, it was for me. Several years ago he located me thru computer tracking, have remained e mail buddies since. Know that with time, things will get better, but does take awhile.

My heart felt sympathy goes out to all of David's family. He was a marvelous person--a level above most--and will be greatly missed by many. I just know he is already teaching a group in heaven how to use a digital camera and print photos using a computer.
