J. John (Jack) Reirdon
of Vestal
J. John Reirdon, 82, of Vestal, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, October 5, 2008, at his home. Jack was born September 14, 1926 in Carbondale, Pa., and grew up in Milford, Conn. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Richard S. Bull, a destroyer escort in the Pacific Theatre in WWII. He was a Sonarman third class and was a decorated war veteran. After the war he went to school at the Veterans Vocational School in Troy, N.Y. and worked as a machine designer for many years. Jack was also a faithful servant of the Lord for many years at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle and served in the Golden Key Prison Ministry. Jack is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lillian; and his two daughters, Beth Youngs (Dan Youngs), Maurya Soloninka (Dave Soloninka); seven grandsons, Michael Youngs (Jessica Youngs), Justin Youngs, Matthew Youngs, Ryan Youngs, Luke Tingley, Zachary Soloninka and Joshua Soloninka.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. David Parsons, Pastor of the Calvary Baptist Tabernacle of Vestal, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Those wishing may make contributions to the American Heart Association, 59 Court St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901.
