Irene Shepler Obituary

Irene C. Shepler
of Oxford
Irene C. Shepler, 92, of Oxford, passed away on October 14, 2008 at her home. She was born on February 21, 1916 in Binghamton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Byers) Cicak. On June 21, 1941 in Johnson City, she married Milton S. Shepler, Jr., who died on November 15, 1988. She is survived by her children, Milrene Smith, Binghamton, Linda Shepler, Ellenton, Fla., Rebecca and William Dupree, Binghamton, and Eric and Cathy Shepler, Otego; her grandchildren, Brock Hassick, Matthew and Lianne Dupree, Renee and Aaron McKown, and Tracy and Derek Davis; and her great-grandchildren, Nicole Bair, Emma McKown, Jordan Davis and Solomon Davis. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Cicak. Irene was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Oxford and the Altar-Rosary Society of the church. She was a bookkeeper at the National Bank of Oxford for many years, retiring from NBT Bank. She was a member of the Oxford Garden Club.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, October 17, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Oxford, with Rev. Thomas I. Ward as celebrant. Burial will follow in Slovak Catholic Cemetery, Binghamton. Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, N.Y.
