George E. Minnich
of Vestal
George E. Minnich, 73, of Vestal, died on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Mercy Special Care Hospital, Scranton, PA. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois Minnich, Vestal; daughters and son-in-law, Jane and Greg Westfall, Allentown, N.J., Karen and Mark Bachner, Cicero, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Christine Minnich, Grapevine, Tex.; grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Luke Westfall, Jon and Tim Bachner, Trevor, Brett, Liliana and Logan Minnich. He graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University and received his first Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University and his second Master's in Computer Science & Information Systems from Binghamton University. He was a Senior Engineer at Link Aviation for 35 years with seven patents. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and IEE (International Electrical Engineer) Society.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 499 Plaza Drive, Vestal. The Rev. Nadine Ridley will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main Street, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Dollars for Scholars, PO Box 959, Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
