Eleanor Tschopp Obituary
formerly of Owego
Eleanor M. Tschopp, 80, a former resident of Florida and a resident of Alabama for one year, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2008, following a period of declining health. Eleanor is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Lohmeyer; her brother, Jimmy Hakes; and sisters, Grace Thomas Faberski and Evelyn (David) Reynolds. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michael and Allison Lohmeyer; and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan and Gavin Lohmeyer. Born on April 20, 1928 in Owego (Waits), N.Y., Eleanor was the daughter of the late Robert and Jesse (Womelsdors) Hakes. She was predeceased by her husband, John Tschopp on March 24, 1997. Eleanor enjoyed knitting and crocheting and had crafted many afghans for family and friends. In Florida she was a member of a "kitchen band" and enjoyed singing with a group of friends at various functions and playing bingo.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, at Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley. Pastor Kenneth D. Lindsey, Lakeview Chapel of Christian Missionary Alliance, Owego, will officiate. The Cooley Family of the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, is assisting with arrangements.

Dear Lohmeyer Family,, I was thinking of the Lohmeyer family, and am so sad to see on line of Ellie's passing. Ellie and John were never too busy to talk and we shared great talks and laughter. John, I'm so sorry I didn't get to contact Ellie and John Tschopp over the years. They were truly like family to me, as they knew my parents died when I was an infant. I will always cherish my memories with them. We will all see one another in Heaven, and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. None of you will ever be forgotten! God Bless the entire Lohmeyer and Tschopp family.
