Geno F. DeAngelo
of Town of Chenango
Geno F. DeAngelo, 45, of Town of Chenango, passed away at his home Sunday evening, October 28, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his father, Broome County Sheriff Geno DeAngelo. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen DeAngelo; his sons, Marcus, Geno, Rocco, and Gianni, all at home; his mother, Geraldine DeAngelo, Binghamton; his brothers and sisters, Christopher and Sandra DeAngelo and their children, Christopher Jr. and Deanna, Millsboro, Del., Phillip and Beth DeAngelo and their children, Sgt. Michael DeAngelo, currently deployed in Afghanistan and his wife, Meghan, Scott, Cara and Gina, Linda and Mikel Lidell and their son, Nicholas, Binghamton, Amy DeAngelo, New York City; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carol and Donald Brunnabend, Vestal; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted and loving friends. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Hillcrest. He was an 18 year veteran, currently holding the rank of Sergeant, with the Binghamton Police Department. He was also a personal fitness trainer with Court Jester Athletic Club in Johnson City. Geno was an avid motorcyclist and took great joy in riding his Harley-Davidson.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. The family requests that flowers please be omitted and request donations to the Geno F. DeAngelo Benefit Fund, c/o Linda Lidell at M&T Bank, 20 Jennison Ave., Johnson City, N.Y. 13790 for the education of his children.

To all of Geno's family -
I am so shocked and sorry to hear of his death. I knew Geno and Phil during our summer lifeguarding days for the city way back in the 70's and early 80's. I have not been in touch for years, but both Geno and Phil will always hold a dear place in my heart. I am so sorry that Geno was taken so soon. It sounds like he lived a full and purposeful life and will therefore leave a huge void for those who had the good fortune of loving him.

To the DeAngelo family, I am so sorry to hear about Geno. Him and i go way back. There was a time when i was a younger man that I was allowing the streets to bring me down. Geno knew that i was awaiting sentencing. I was out and about getting in trouble. Any cop could have busted me. I had more than enough rope to hang myself. Geno saw me on the street getting into trouble; he had the right to bust me, but instead he said "Yo billy! come on! you have court soon, you have to go in for sentencing, how you gonna feel when you have to tell your kids you're going to prison earlier and longer cause you out here gettin' in this mess?! grow up and get home!" He would talk to me like he was an older bro. His words were in my mind throughout my incarceration. I new he was sincear. He didn't want you locked up; he wanted you to grow up.3 years later when i got out i saw him , someone commented on the weight i gained some muscle some fat. Geno said "That's ok that u put on some pounds bro, I can tell u stopped doing the stuff that's killin' ya! now u can do the stuff to keep u around!" he allways had a possitive view to share. Geno would ask how my family was; not because he knew them but because he knew they were important to me. he had a genuine concern for u no matter what u did as long as he knew you wanted to do better in life. He allways had my back even if it was by locking me up to get me outta the game. i have so much respect for him. he allways went out his way to see how i was doing. we would allways talk about dogs and training them, as well as martial arts and technics in hand to hand combat. he was so sharp and on point and a great friend. Dear Karen,sons and family, I knew Geno from the Court Jester he was my trainer and my friend. It won't be the same walking into the gym and not seeing him putting someone through the drill. I brought him oranges when we had workouts I will miss bringing him oranges....I am a better and fortunate person to have known him. I know your loss all to well. My husband, Detective Chris Taylor passed 4 months ago. Chris and Geno were first partners when SIU BC merged with Binghamton. They were great together!!
