Carolyn Joey (Wood) Lord died Monday, November 5, 2007, at her home. She was born March 24, 1928 in Hop Bottom, Pa., daughter of E. Carroll and Enid (Osborn) Wood. Most of her school years were in Hop Bottom, but her senior year (1945) was at Binghamton Central High School. She was a graduate of Albany State Teacher's College in 1948. Carolyn taught Jr. High English at Bainbridge Central School from 1949 until retirement in 1983. On March 12, 1955 in Binghamton, N.Y., she and Charles D. Lord were married. They have always lived in Bainbridge, N.Y. On Memorial Day, May 30, 1966, she gave birth to Kevin C. Lord at The Hospital, Sidney. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Charles; her son, Kevin and wife, Kimberly Lord, Unadilla; grandson, Thomas D. Lord, Unadilla; also a cousin, Sarah Lord Littlefield, Vermont and Florida; and also other cousins and family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge and the Feeder Watch Program of the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology. She was also a member of the New York State Teachers Association, and the Bainbridge-Guilford Teachers Association. For 15 years, she and Charles owned and operated Cara Cattery. They also raised, showed and sold Siamese cats and kittens throughout the northeast.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18th, at the First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge with Rev. Dolly Taretto officiating. Burial will be at the family's convenience in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bainbridge First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 27 North Main Street, Bainbridge, N.Y. 13733. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, N.Y.
