Mary Emilou (Howland) Weissflog
of Worcester, Mass.
Mary Emilou (Howland) Weissflog, 88, of Worcester, Mass., formerly of Chatham, N.Y., died Saturday, October 20, 2007, in Notre Dame Long Term Care in Worcester after an illness. Her husband of 61 years, Herman Weissflog, died in 2005. She leaves a daughter, Deanne Weissflog, Holden, Mass.; a son, Robert Weissflog, Endwell, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Judith and family, Oswego, N.Y., and Stephen and family, Rockdale, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren and two nephews. Her sister, Helen Andrews, predeceased her. She was born in Athens, Pa., daughter of Orlando and Hallie (Cartledge) Howland. Emilou graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1937, and with a B.S. in Education from SUNY at Plattsburgh in 1942. As a member of the Clio Sorority, she made friendships there that she maintained throughout her entire life. Her family was the center of her life and she loved to cook, to sew and to garden. She was a Home Economics Teacher for several years. Active in her church, she was a member of the Board of Christian Education, a deaconess as well as a Sunday School teacher. In the community, she was on the Board of Directors of Crellin Park, a Rebekah and a member of the Women's Club, a Paul Harris fellow and a member of the Apple Valley Squares. She was loved by all who came to know her during her life.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on November 17th at Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge, N.Y. Donations may be made in her memory to the First Reformed Church of Chatham, 23 Kinderhook St., Chatham, N.Y. 12037; or the Alzheimer's Association, Mass.
