My Dear Uncle Dave, you know I asked you to walk me down the aisle and I do believe when that time comes, you still will do that special favor for me. I watch Daisy looking off in the distance her eyes moving from side to side smiling for no apparent reason and truly believe she has caught that sweet twinkle in your eye as you stand with all our family members she will someday have the opportunity to meet.

DEBBIE AND FAMILY,
I AM SO VERY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FATHER. I WAS ONLINE AND LUANN (SHIDAGIS)TOLD ME. HE IS NOW AT PEACE AND NOT SUFFERING ANYMORE. I HAD NO CLUE HE WAS SICK. I HAD READ THE GUEST BOOK AND SO MANY NICE THINGS WERE SAID ABOUT HIM. I SURELY CAN REMEMBER HIM WORKING ON THOSE CARS IN THE DRIVEWAY THAT WAS ON MOORE AVE. I HAD LOST MY MOM 17 YEARS AGO SO I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO LOOSE A PARENT. I THINK OF HER EVERY DAY. WITHIN TIME, THE PAIN WILL EASE, BUT YOU WILL NEVER FORGET THE LOVE THAT WAS THERE. I ALSO VERY MUCH BELIEVE THAT EVEN THOUGH THE BODY IS NO LONGER IN SIGHT, HIS SPIRIT WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU. HE IS WATCHING OVER ALL OF YOU. I WILL KEEP YOU ALL IN MY PRAYERS. GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOURS
I LIVED AT (13 SHELDON ST)

I was so proud last night to be Uncle David's niece as I watched SO MANY people wait patiently to pay their resepcts, express their love, and to share their memories. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a large, loving, and FUN family. It was a beautiful sight to see all of the brothers and sisters standing side by side last night. I am sure you made your brother proud. The funeral today was a touching and fitting tribute to a wonderful man. It is just like our family to laugh and cry at the same time! Laughter has always been a big part of our family and who we are. Thank you ALL for that legacy! Especially Uncle David. He never failed to made me laugh. I think I will always see him sitting on a stool at the donut shop when I walk in, with a big warm smile on his face and that twinkle in his eyes. I love you Uncle David and I will miss you. Thank you for all of the happy memories and for being such a wonderful uncle.

We laughed together, cried together and just didn't quite understand and this was just trying to complete one of the many puzzles that were almost impossible for us to do. I will always miss you and will never forget your infectious smile and laugh. Thank you for teaching me how to work hard right along side of you like the son you never had.

Uncle Dave,
So many memories of family get togethers and overnighters at your house as a young girl. You always knew how to make everyone laugh in your gruff way. I have a picture in my mind of you and your brothers on your back porch laughing and giving the nieces and nephews a hard time everytime they came in and out of the house.
I know you are in heaven now with no sickness! You will be forever an angel looking over your family, just as you did here on earth. My heart goes out to you, Aunt Patty and Tina, Debbie and Pam. I could not even imagine what you are going through now. Just have some comfort in knowing that your husband/father is now walking with the Lord and he is suffering no more. I will be praying for all of you through this difficult time.
Love Amy

My uncle David was and still is one of the most dearest, sweetest, warm hearted and compassionate men a person could meet...and definetly one of the best uncles a nephew could ever wish for.I still wish to this day I took him up on the many offers he gave me growing up to "Ok Jared, pack your bags and get in the truck, your going home with me".His big smile will always be in my heart and smiling down on us all.I will miss the many times to cayuga lake with the boat, but the ice cream there and back with him was even better, thank god for Friendly's !All my love to aunt Pat and family.I know he will be watching down on all of us. I love you forever and always Uncle David !

To Aunt Pat, Tina, Debbie, and Pam,
I am so sorry about Uncle Dave. I will truly miss him dearly and I am proud to say he was one of my favorite uncles, if not one of my favorite people in my life. I will never forget the times we shared learning about cars and just life in general in the garage. He meant a lot to me as well as mom and dad and he will be truly missed. I am sorry I cant be there, but I am glad that I got to see him before his passing. I miss you all and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

This picture is how I remembered Uncle Dave. I shared that picture and all of my memories with my wife who didn't get the chance to meet him. What a man and a father. I know Uncle Dave and Uncle Jimmy are up there with there heads under the hood of something. He will be missed. He will be remembered as you share your stories and memories of how he lived his life. To Aunt Patty, Tina, Debby, Pamela and all of the Allen family and friends, our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Love,
Steve and Becky Porter
P.S.
These words touched our heart when Becky's mother passed from cancer in 2006. We would like to share it with you.

Come to Me

God saw you were getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So He put his arms around you
And whispered "Come to Me"

With tearful eyes we watched you
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hardworking hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

We will miss you Uncle Dave.

The passing of my grandfather was not an easy thing to stomach but I know he is in a better place. He was a loving caring man who was always there for me. I spent a lot of time with him as a child and will always cheerish those memories. In Calebs eyes grandpa will always be remembered as great grandpa with the big garage. We will love and miss him but will never forget him.
