Madeline May Morrison
of Vestal
Madeline May (Pellor) Morrison, 95, of Vestal, New York, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 30, 2007. Born in Binghamton, N.Y., November 14, 1912, Madeline graduated from Binghamton High School and the Charles S. Wilson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing on August 25, 1933. As a Registered Nurse, she worked at Wilson Memorial Hospital. Madeline married Robert Chester (Chet) Morrison on November 16, 1935. Over the next several years, Madeline and Chet traveled and resided in approximately 38 different states following Chet's work assignments. In 1943, she returned to the Binghamton area to raise a family, moving to the Town of Vestal in 1945. Madeline was active in many church activities at the Twin Orchards Community Church and later at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Vestal, was co-founder of Cub Scout Pack 226 and the first den mother of Den One. She did volunteer work for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile and was a Republican election poll worker for many years in the Town of Vestal. Madeline and Chet were active in the Vestal Senior Citizens and enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. Madeline resided at the Castle Gardens Senior Living Community for 10 years, recently moving to Elizabeth Church Manor. Madeline was predeceased by her parents, William and May Pellor, Binghamton; her sister, Elsie Gassler, Vestal; and her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert Chester (Chet) Morrison. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger C. and Elizabeth B. Morrison, Little Meadows, Pa., Douglas L. and Cheryl A. Morrison, Smith Mtn. Lake, Va.; two grandsons and their wives, R. Craig and Bekki Morrison, Apalachin, N.Y., and Douglas L.R. and Amy B. Morrison, Rochester, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Richard D. Gassler, Campbell, California.
Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Vestal Senior Citizens, 201 Main St., Vestal, New York 13850. Private graveside services will be held at Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal, N.Y. Arrangements are by the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., Endicott, N.Y.
